Back in the days social media platform called My Space was popular, but early 21st century. Social media become popular as many platforms were created, then change drastically worldwide. People were easily communicating with each other, sharing info and consuming content. Social media has influenced different aspects of society such as politics, public view and businesses, moreover it brought challenges misinformation, concern of privacy.
Building brand’s online reputation
Social media has created plenty of platforms to engage, therefore it has made it easier for PRPs to engage with their target audience than before. They built and maintained a good reputation by building a good relationship with influencers and journalists (Newton, 2021). Also staying active on social media and keep your target audiences updated. You also need to network to add extra knowledge about ways to grow a brand. Building trust and loyalty in audiences makes an organization have a good reputation and be well known.
The public relations industry has changed because of new technology, media channels, as the age of “we talk, you listen” style of communication style is gone. The worst challenge that PRPs face are fake news or misinformation. PR needs to manage this fake news and maintain their trust with their target audience. The information on social media spready very fast and this makes it difficult for PRPs to control these stories and respond quickly.PR need to make a strong crisis communication plan, add pre-approval messaging and appoint spokesperson to reply to the matter. PRPs can observe social media medium closely and answer with accurate data and capture the user to accurate this false news.
According to (Cheng, 2019) social media is commonly used in PR. The real time communication channels make PRPs to be able to share news and always update (Shalini, 2023). They can engage with their target audience directly, which makes PRPs build and maintain good relationships. They can also make partnerships with influencers to make brand credibility and get new audiences. PRPs can bring up good interaction with followers by replying on comments and messages.
Measuring the success of a PR campaign can be hard to find as it does not have a specific measuring analytic metric l. But they can measure by numbers of press articles that are attached about your brand can identify how the brand is doing. The amount of people visiting your website can measure how successful or not your brand is doing, as well as brand mentioning can determine the success of a brand because the hashtag customs or mentioning of the brand can determine how the brand is known.
PR needs to carry on analyzing the information collected from social media metrics and then see if their strategies are working and which areas need to be improved. They can also measure by likes, shares, comments, retweets and replies which will mean that your audiences are blown by your content.
In conclusion, social media influence on PR industry is important even though sometimes there are challenges and opportunities that need PRPs to adapt some new strategies. in this dynamic age it's easier to reach their audiences and build brand reputation.

While it helps in quick communication during a crisis, it also spreads problems faster and makes it harder to control information. PR teams need to work fast and smart to handle issues effectively and protect a company's reputation, which can be difficult to do when the crisis has gotten out hand.

You need to stay active online, like posting regularly, interact with your audience by replying to their comments and messages. Always find ways to collaborate with influencers that have visibility and known. These are some of practice that I've discovered.
